NCAFA (Ottawa): Week 3 recap – Vaillancourt has second pick 6 in 2 games for Raiders

A recap of week 3 of NCAFA.

TYKE (Under 10)

An outstanding defensive effort by Joshua Foster and Cameron Walsh helped Bell tie Myers in OT.

In a win over Bel Air, the Redskins John Furano, Matthew Stimpson, and Riley Henry allowed RB Haven Holder to score 3 touchdowns.  Jahmil Anderson scored twice while QB Ryan Licandro ran for another.

Brockville’s Lucas Woodhall returned the opening kick off for a TD, but in the final second, Kanata pulled out an 18-12 victory.

Shawn Lukusa scored the only Bel-Air touchdown in a 43-6 loss.  Stephane Tshishmbi was outstanding on defense, and Tyler Clostre had an acrobatic interception.

Raiders RB Kevin Victome had five TD’s bringing his 3-game season total to 14 and Oliver Vailancourt had 2 interceptions in a 36-0 win over the Giants.

Fabrice Mukendi scored 4 touchdowns for Cumberland against cross town rival Orleans.

MOSQUITO (Under 12)

Malik Yusuf was Bell’s leading tackler while Sam Roberts returned a punt for a TD in their first loss of the season vs. Myers.  Riders’ Cameron Wyers scored the major while Thabiso Bakelaar had a safety.

Connor Williams lead the Lions defense in tackles while J.P. Cimankinda scored on offense and special teams in a 46-45 win over Nepean.  Terrell Brown (3), Joel Briere (1), Jackson Dunning (1) and Niko Gettas (1) scored for the Redskins.

Sam Kuntz and Austin Gionet lead the Mustangs on defense while Jesse Luketa, Lake Korete-Moore and Kevin Nsabua each scored in their win vs. Corwnall.

Tyler Astles (3), Chris Shopa (1) and Nick Franchina (1) had touchdowns in South Gloucester’s win over the Giants.

Panthers’ Nathan Amesbury lead the defence with 5 tackles in their win over Orleans.

PEE WEE (Under 14)

Myers’ Jacob Beumer and Noah Goulet limited the Bell passing game, but Bell QB Quinn Stewart connected with Josh Nwaelleh for a TD while Steven Hanzidiakou and Craig Dawe had strong running games.  1st year player Dilan Parry had a breakthrough game.

Jalla Lansenna (3), Edward Ekiyor, Daniel Barker, and Ricky Frigon all scored for the Redskins in their first win of the season.  Barker also had over 100 yards in punt returns and an interception.

QB Jonathan Hutchinson led the Panthers to their first win of the season carrying the ball for 2 TD’s.

Neville Gallimore’s 100 yards rushing and five TDs weren’t enough as the Mustangs fell to the Cornwall Wildcats.

BANTAM (Under 16)

Myers Riders had rushing TDs from Andy Guest, Hunter King and Costa Jones.  Max Chainey added a receiving TD.  Birthday boy Jocelyn Simard forced 2 fumbles in their win over Bell.  Warriors’ Kaile Berry rushed for over 100 yards behind Bryson Patterson and the O line.

Redskins Arthur Pidgeon connected with Cody McLeod for a TD early on while Bobby Bomis had a huge turnover.  However, Bel Air’s Alain Ciminkinda blocked a punt, and David Mulder intercepted a 2 point convert attempt to take the win.

Josée Mbeka scored two touchdowns for the Panthers in a loss to Orleans.

Raiders; Will Karam recovered 2 fumbles, and Dimitri Vaillancourt had his second pick 6 in 2 games in a win over the Giants.

MIDGET (Under 19)

RB Maxime Boucher had runs of 61 & 68 yards including 1 for a touchdown in a win over the Norsemen.  Mahad Abdullahi had an interception to seal the game.

2 TD passes from QB Chris Gagne, rushing TD by Ryan Weeks and an interception return TD by Graham Smyth move the Redskins to 3-0 with a win over Kanata.

Bel Air had 4 opportunities in the red zone but settled for a field goal by Dylan Sousa in a loss to the Bengals.
