Week 6 – OFC Players of the Week

Offensive:  #8 Ryan Kotar – RB – Hamilton Hurricanes
28 rushes for 192 yards and 2 TD

Ryan Kotar, 3rd Year RB led the Hurricanes to a big road win over the St. Leonard Cougars in a rematch of one of the 2011 OFC Semi-Finals. The financial planning student at Mohawk College had a huge day with 28 rushes for 192 yards and 2 TD’s. The former Bishop Ryan HS grad led a Hurricanes offense that had 505 yards of offense on the day. Ryan will try to lead the Hurricanes to their sixth consecutive victory, when they travel to play the Burlington Braves on Saturday evening at 7:00pm at Nelson Stadium.

Defensive:  #10  Mason Beekhuis – LB – Windsor AKO Fratmen
5 Solo Tackles, 1 Batted Ball, 1 FR, 1 INT, 18 Def. Points

Mason Beekhuis, 3rd Year LB from Sandwich SS in La Salle had an amazing all-around performance in the Fratmen’s 23-7 victory over the Burlington Braves. Beekhuis led the defense with 5 solo tackles, 1 batted ball, 1  fumble recovery and 1 interception, amassing 18 defensive points. Along with his defensive mates, Beekhuis and company held the Braves to a mere 80 yards rushing and forced 8 turnovers on the evening. The Fratmen will look to knock off the London Beefeaters this Saturday afternoon at 4pm at Windsor Stadium.

Special Teams:  #33 Zach Medeiros – K – London Beefeaters
P: 1-41 – K/O: 5-318 – FG: 3-4 – PAT: 4-4 in 37-8 victory over the Twin Cities Predators

Zach Medeiros, 3rdYear, P/PK from St. Joseph’s SS in St. Thomas had a great all-around kicking performance. Zach was good on 3 of 4 FG’s, had 1 punt for 41 yards, 5 kick-offs for 318, was 4 for 4 on converts for 13 points, and even contributed with 1 rush for 18 yards. Zach will try and help the Beefs continue their winning ways when they travel to Windsor to play the AKO Fratmen on Saturday at 4pm at Windsor Stadium.
