Ontario (Peel): St. Marguerite d’Youville Panthers Run Over the Mayfield Mavericks

On Friday afternoon, the d’Youville Panthers pounced on the Mayfield Mavericks with an impressive 65-0 win.

The Panthers’ high-powered double wing offense was too much for the Mavericks to handle.  On d’Youville’s first offensive series, RB Kadeem Moses capped off the drive by scoring on a power run from 12-yards out. Panthers centre Ryan Mendes, led the offensive line with incredible blocking throughout the game.

On defense, d’Youville once again proved to be relentless and dominated Mayfield’s running game. The Mavericks were unable to move the ball all game and were forced to punt quite often.  d’Youville linebackers, Marcel Ugoh, Nakas Onyeka, and Damian Halstead looked really solid, and were in on almost every tackle.  Panthers cornerback Cordelle Walden made an incredible interception on an attempted Mayfield screen pass.

d’Youville team captain Damian Halstead dominated both sides of the ball adding 2 touchdowns as a fullback, and 1 touchdown defensively when he recovered an end-zone fumble.

Also, scoring for the Panthers were RBs Jadon Johnson, Cordelle Walden, and FB Nakas Onyeka. Quarterback, Dwight Henville added a touchdown on an 8 yard run, a 2-point conversion run, and also completed a 24-yard score to WR Malik Richards.  Kicker Emmanuel Esho kicked 8 points in converts, and 1 rouge.

St. Marguerite d’Youville is now 3-0 in exhibition, and 2-0 in Peel’s North Division regular season.  Next Friday, the Panthers will travel down to St. Roch to take on the Ravens at 2:00pm.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
