Boyko second Canadian to grab NFL Combine invite

Saskatchewan offensive lineman joins Varga at next month’s event in Indianapolis.

Another Canadian has received an NFL Scouting Combine invite.

Brett Boyko will attend the NFL Combine.Ā  It will take place from February 18th to 21st in Indianapolis.

At the combine, Boyko will undergo testing and interviews. Ā All 32 NFL teams will be in attendance as well as over 300 prospects who will participate at the event.

He is the second Canadian to be invited. Ā Earlier this week, Kitchener, Ontario’s Tyler Varga accepted his invitiation.

Earlier this month (January 17th), the 6-7, 310 pound offensive lineman from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan was invited to the East-West Shrine Bowl in St. Petersburg, Florida.Ā  Ā However, he suffered an elbow injury which hindered him from participating in the game.

Last month, the CFL ranked Boyko first overall in their winter scouting rankings for the 2015 Draft in May.

Several publications south of the border have projected the Saskatchewan lineman as a mid-round 2015 NFL Draft selection.

Boyko recently completed his senior season with NCAA Division 1 team, UNLV Rebels.Ā  He has the distinction of being the first Canadian that joined the Rebels since British Columbiaā€™s Andre Dubiellak did in 2000-2001.Ā  This past season, Boyko was one of three Canadians to suit up for the Rebels.

The offensive lineman capped off his season with an All-Mountain West Second Team selection for the second straight year.Ā  In 2014, he registered 37 pancake tackles and only allowed one sack while he started in 13 games for the Rebels.

Previous to the Rebels, Boyko suited up for St. Josephā€™s Guardians of the Saskatoon Secondary School Athletic Directorate (SSSAD). He also played for the Arns Falcons of the Kinsmen Football League (KFL).
