Carabins land Montreal recruit

Montreal offensive lineman becomes first recruit to join RSEQ team’s 2015 class.

The Montreal Carabins have landed their first recruit for their 2015 class.

Maxime Girouard is the newest Carabins.Β  The 6’8, 255 pound offensive lineman from Montreal, Quebec will join the team for the 2015 RSEQ season.

Going to a CIS school was something that was not initially in the cards for Girouard when he began CEGEP.Β  After a little convincing from his coach as well as courting attempts from the Carabins (Adamo Ladeluca was the first to approach him), the offensive lineman changed his stance and committed to his hometown CIS team.

β€œThe football program in University of Montreal is really good and as a Montreal citizen, it was an honor for me that Montreal approached me to be part of the team,” explained Girouard of his decision. Β Β β€œWhen I started college, I wasn’t thinking about going to university.”

β€œI start playing at Ahuntsic and after only two years of college, my football coach told me than I really should consider going to university.Β  I really love football and everything surrounding this sport and it soon became a real opportunity for me to possibly go to university. University of Montreal were the first to invite me for a visit, show some real interest and it was clear for me that I wanted to go there.”
