#CFCOVFL Game Preview: JV Lions hoping to build momentum

This week, the junior varsity Cambridge Lions are facing the Etobicoke Eagles in Week 2 of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) season.

The Lions are hoping to keep things rolling while the Eagles are coming off an opening week bye.

Last week, the Lions earned a 30-0 shutout victory over Brampton Bulldogs. In that win, Lions running backs averaged five yards a carry and ran the ball 56 times.

Head Coach Gary Skalos would like to see them, especially Elvis Sanchez and David Aiken step it up even further this week.

“I’d like to see those guys get in the end zone a couple of times,” said Skalos.

The Lions’ defence hope to continue their strong play this week against the Eagles. Defensive tackle Justin Jelacic and middle linebacker Jack Hinsperger are expected to continue their dominanace on the field.

Both the Lions’ quarterback and special teams play must show signs of improvement in Week 2. Β It was “off the charts bad” last week, according to Skalos.

Unsure of what to expect from the Eagles, the Lions expect their opponent to be rested and healthy.

The game between the Lions and Eagles is on Sunday, May 31 at 11:00am.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
