Friends, teammates, brothers: Sherwood Park Wolverines "Three Musketeers"

The Three Musketeers

Friends, Teammates, Brothers. Three words that best describe Zachary Carter, Cody Arseneault and Dalton Cowden, or as we like to call them ā€œThe Three Musketeersā€, midget football players for the Sherwood park Wolverines.

Where it all started

Both in Grade 11, Dalton and Cody attend St Joesph High school together, and have played football with each other for a couple of years, on their high school team ā€œthe St Joe Saintsā€ and their midget Team ā€œthe Edmonton Eaglesā€. Zachary (Nicknamed Carter) is also in grade 11 and attends Salisbury composite high school. Carter was part of the Sherwood Park Wolverines, and met up with Cody and Dalton when the two teams merged.

Players History

Cody is a linebacker, and was the 3rd leading tackler last year on his high school football team. During his season with the Eagles, he was quiet and shy, never saying a word, but going on with his business quietly and confidently. Dalton is a Linebacker/Receiver for the Wolverines, and Carter is a Linebacker as well. Since the two teams merged, it has become quite clear these three work fantastic together on the defense.

The wow factor is if you could see these guys during practice you would see their true talent and how hard they work for what they want.

Team Spirit

During a practice Cody Fractured his wrist, even though he wanted too, he couldn’t play the season opener against the Seahawks, but he came and supported his team. Not even a week later he was back in action at practice, and on the 20th played his first game against the Lloydminster Red Dogs. The Wolves lost 27-0 but Cody made tackles, and was strong on defense and you couldn’t even tell he had broken anything. During the game against the Seahawks, Carter proved to be an unstoppable force on defense, as soon as the game started, he was forcing turnovers, getting sacks, and encouraging his teammates. Even with all the snow, he played that game till the end and the team only lost 12-6.

The second game of the season was no different, the team played their hardest and Defense was the difference, Offense will get better, but until then the big ā€œDā€ is MVPS of the game. Final Score was Red dogs 27 Wolverines 0.

Dalton the third and final Musketeer, he has been playing receiver and Linebacker and is great at both, During the Red dog game, Dalton played great, tackles were his Specialty, and you could tell he was fired up and ready to play, Last year was an okay season for him, as he was still finding his inner Football, but this year he is back and better then ever. His Brother Kalam also played for the Edmonton Eagles, as a Quarterback, one of the best the team ever saw, so you can tell football “runs in the family”.

My inspiration

I choose to write about these three because I believe they will be the next big thing, I don’t think you will find players so determined to succeed in doing what they love, some are born great, some achieve great, and others have greatness thrust upon us. This has certainly been the case with The Three Musketeers, and I’m looking forward to watching the Wolverines next upcoming game against the Battle River Shock on Saturday April 28th ā€¦………….

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
