Report: Windsor Lancers to go interim for the rest of 2011

A report from Windsor has the Lancers (after posting the position for hiring a new head coach and receiving applications) not going through the interview process this year and hiring a head coach on an interim basis. The interim position being filled by Joe D’Amore, the current assistant that is working full time in the office now. We cannot recollect an institution posting a job, receiving resumes then saying “we changed our minds”. Another interesting move by the ‘higher ups’ at the university if this report is true. Here is a bio on Joe D’Amore:

2010 – University of Windsor – Receiver coach / recruiting coordinator

-Most recently, D’Amore has served as the Offensive Coordinator for the Essex Ravens in the Ontario Varsity Football League since 2007. With the Ravens, he has also worked as a Special Teams Coordinator and the Defensive Backs coach.

– Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator for the Villanova Wildcats this past year. Prior to that, he was the Head Coach for two years with the Sandwich High School Sabres.

played for the Lancers from 1996-2000 as a wide receiver and started all 40 games of his career. He was also the team captain for the Lancers for three seasons.

-played professional football in the Arena Football League (AFL2) with the Carolina Rhinos. He also played two seasons with the Fursty Razorbacks in the German Football League in Munich, Germany.

– broke into the coaching ranks in 2000 when he worked as a Graduate Assistant under Coach Morencie with the Lancer Football program.

– Following that experience, he worked with the AKO Fratmen for one season as their Special Teams Coordinator.
