Position Title: Redmen Football Head Coach

Position Summary:

McGill University is currently seeking candidates for the position of Head Coach ā€“ Redmen Football.Ā  From the planning perspective, the head coach is responsible for the technical, tactical and strategic components of team operations.Ā  Recruiting, skill development and monitoring academic progress of student-athletes are also of prime concern.Ā  The head coach supervises the full-time and part-time coaches of the football program, along with select support staff.

The football program at McGill is rich in tradition and requires a dynamic individual who will lead in a manner which respects and upholds the values of the university. McGill is an internationally renowned academic institution that promotes excellence in the classroom and on the field of play.

McGill currently competes in the RSEQ (RĆ©seau du Sport Ɖtudiant de QuĆ©bec) conference of the CIS (Canadian Interuniversity Sport).

Primary Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Assistant Director, Athletics and Recreation, the Head Coach will ensure that the program functions in an environment that promotes the holistic development of student-athletes and recognizes the values of the university. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: administer, organize and structure training camps, clinics, practices and game day operations; set standards for level of commitment; develop and monitor football seasonal plans; develop and implement strategies for enhancing the football program; recruit and liaise with elite student-athletes on the provincial, national and international scene; monitor the academic progress of student-athletes; foster relationships with other universities and related external organizations; collaborate with the Athletics and Recreation University Advancement Officer, and further develop relationships with McGill Redmen alumni and donors.

Other Qualifying Skills/Abilities:

Possess a Bachelorā€™s degree and NCCP Competition Development Certification. Equivalent coaching certifications will be considered.Ā  Demonstrated history in the ability to develop and carry out a successful recruiting program directed at high performance student athletes. Have a minimum of 5 yearsā€™ experience working with high performance athletes 16 years of age or older. Proven success in developing and nurturing relationships with athletes, faculty, staff, students, media, alumni and donors. Must have the ability to supervise 3 full-time assistant coaches and a group of part-time support staff. Possess a proven track record and a leadership style characterized by enthusiasm, integrity and discipline. Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.

Position Type and Salary Range:

Fixed term, full-time contract. (Evening and weekend work required). Salary will commensurate with experience and McGill Universityā€™s salary policy.
