No. 2 Bev Facey Falcons (11-1, 2-0) 11
No. 9 St. Francis Browns (9-1, 1-0) 16
In a game that has been described as the defensive battle of the year, the defending champions, the St. Francis Browns managed to capture the Alberta Provincial Tier 1 Championship for the second year in a row. Many thought that the Bev Facey Falcons would be crowned in this game as they have destroyed their opponents all season long led by #CFC100 RB Chuba Hubbard. While we have learned that Hubbard fractured his leg and is now sidelined, the Falcons went 11-1 this season which is a terrific feat. On the Browns side of things, all three LB’s, #CFC100 Joe Dutton, Tyler Stambene, and Noah McDonough held Hubbard in check most of the game and really made the #1 player in Canada earn every single yard. Also we mention the performance of #CFC100 lineman, Logan Bandy, who played a physically impressive game, especially on the defensive side. If we were the D-line coach at UofC, I would start lobbying now to move Bandy to the defensive side of the ball. For the other defensive unit on Facey, we think that the group of the front four is arguably the best unit in the province and the future looks bright for the Facey defense.

No. 7 Terry Fox Ravens (9-0, 0-2) 22
No. 23 South Delta Sun Devils (6-3, 2-0) 21
In the first BC provincial semi-final, the number one team in the province, Terry Fox, took on the hottestΒ team in the province, South Delta. This game featured some of the best BC high school football athletes. The game did not disappoint as both sides relied heavily on their top athletes. For the Sun Devils, it was about #CFC100 LB Grant McDonald and his head-to-head with #CFC100 Jeremie “Kanks” Kankolongo. The game also featured outstanding play by both teams quarterbacks as Michael Calvert used his feet to make one big play after another and Zander Bailey made a huge throw on 3rd and 20 to Andy Hanlen that resulted in a 69 yard touchdown that would be one of the defining plays in the game. We think it’s important to note that Terry Fox went into the game under the weather with a flu bug running rampant through their roster. Either way, it was a very impressive high school game to watch and both teams should be extremely proud of their play and the product they put on the field.

No. 18 Notre Dame Jugglers (7-1, 2-1) 20
No. 26 New Westminster Hyacks (6-3, 2-1) 14
The Notre Dame Jugglers got off to a quick start as they blocked a punt and took their first possession in for a touchdown. Many opinions before the game agreed that whichever team could control the opponent’s rushing attack would have the best chance at winning. Both teams competed hard. New West made some crucial stops on defense, but was unable to contain #CFC100 QB Steven Moretto when it mattered the most in the second half as he was able to score 3 rushing touchdowns. The Jugglers defense suffocated the Hyacks offense all evening long. The only explosive play came when Lucas Sibau broke a huge run which resulted in New West’s first touchdown of the game and got them back in the game at that point. Other then that, New West would not get into the endzone until the 4th quarter, making it a one possession game, but the Hyacks simply ran out of time. A deserving Notre Dame team punched their ticket to the AAA Provincial Finals next weekend. Congratulations to both teams.
