With the first half winding down, the Huskies tied the game on a 27-yard touchdown run by Huskies’ player of the game Mike Dawes.

With the X-Men deep in their own zone, quarterback Clay Masikewich fumbled after taking a hard hit from behind, with Prince Baffoh recovering in the end zone for a touchdown. X-Men head coach Gary Waterman disputed the call, indicating Masikewich was in his throwing motion, which would have made the play an incomplete pass. The call stood.

After the conversion by Lauther, the Huskies extended to a 20-9 lead. Lauther’s final two field goals gave the visitors a 17-point margin (26-9).

The Huskies sealed the deal with a Kayin Marchand-Wright interception return for a touchdown in the final minute of the fourth quarter.

For the X-Men, Masikewich was 12–for-28 with 164 yards and two interceptions. Ashton Dickson led the blue-and-white rushing attack with 106 yards on 18 carries, while Devon Bailey was the top receiver with 5 catches for 61 yards.

On the defensive side, Nigel Romick had 7.5 tackles for the Huskies, who managed five sacks on X-Men QB Masikewich. The X-Men had five turnovers, while the Huskies coughed up the ball four times.

With the win, the Huskies improve to 1-3, while the X-Men drop to 1-3, creating a three-way tie for second place in the AUS conference. Mount Allison also dropped to 1-3 with a 30-6 loss to the first place Acadia Axemen this afternoon in Wolfville. Acadia sits atop the conference with a 3-1 record.

The X-Men return to action Saturday, October 6th when they host the Acadia Axemen. Game time is 2 p.m. at Oland Stadium. The Huskies and Mounties will play Friday night in Halifax.
