Laurier brings in local-area commit.
Romy Simpson, a wide receiver from the Eastwood Collegiate Institute, already feels a connection with his new team, the Sir Wilfred Laurier Golden Hawks.
Itβs an understatement to say a teamβs current players can have an impact on a commitβs recruitment process. βI loved how welcoming the team was,β Simpson said. βThe way some players reached out compared to other schools was great.β
While he was drawn into the Golden Hawks family early on, Simpson was also impressed with the schoolβs offerings. βI committed to Laurier because I like how close it is to home, also because of their business program, which is one of the top five schools in Canada,β the potential economics student said.

Standing at 5β8, 160lbs, the six-year veteran has probably had his share of coaches. Now, itβs time to learn from Laurierβs. βHead Coach Faulds, coach of the year speaks for itself. This coaching staff has turned the entire program around and it doesnβt stop here. Theyβve been striving for better ever since the Yates Cup championship and I love that,β Simpson said.
βThey work tireless day in and day out to make sure this team is the best they can be and always push for the best.β
Born in Toronto, but raised in Kitchener, Simpson has played with the Twin Cities Predators, the Eastwood Collegiate Institute Rebels (Waterloo Cambridge Secondary School Athletic Association) and Team Ontario. He has built up quite the football resume in his career.
