uOttawa Gee-Gees didn’t ‘back away without a fight’ says commit

uOttawa brings in a Kingston area commit to their Class of 2017.

When Zack Pelehos, an offensive tackle from Gananoque High School, arrived at a fork in the road, he took the path that led him to an opportunity to play with the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees and he isn’t looking back.

“I’ve come a long way over the years, been down so many pathways. I’m happy I’ve picked a pathway that will be very beneficial,” Pelehos said. “A lot of my school supported me at the signing.”

At a towering 6’6, 270lbs, Pelehos seemed to be on the Gee-Gees ‘must have list.’ Pelehos said, “The coaching staff has really made an amazing impression on me. They weren’t backing away without a fight. That shows dedication.”

Interested in criminology, Pelehos is attending university with one goal in mind, to become a better student and athlete. “uOttawa has shown me from my visits that they focus on bettering each and every single player to their full abilities and that’s something I want and need,” he said. “I feel like (the coaches) will help me expand my skills to what they can be.”

Pelehos added that he also chose uOttawa for the school’s academic support system.

Hailing from Gananoque, Ontario, Pelehos has played with the Gananoque Trojans (Leeds and Grenville Secondary Schools Athletic Association), the Kingston Grenadiers (OVFL) and the Rideau Redblacks (National Capital Amateur Football Association). In 2016, he was the Trojans’ and Grenadiers’ outstanding lineman. He and his team also beat out the Myers Riders in the OVFL conference finals to reach the championship game.
