#2 Dryden Lavoie
Dryden Lavoie finished his senior year with the Sturgeon Heights Huskies with 24 receptions for 390 yards, and 4 touchdowns. In 2016, Dryden was named one of the WHSFL’s top wide receivers from the Potter division.
One reason why Dryden enjoys the wide out position is because it’s on you to get the ball, he mentioned, “The best part is seeing the ball fly in your area knowing it’s your ball and you gotta get it.”
Dryden’s future plans after high school are to keep working on his game, and to play CJFL for a year or two. The young Huskie is going to try and use the CJFL as a stepping stone to get the opportunity to play for the University of Manitoba Bison one day.
This off-season, Dryden’s main focus is getting bigger and continuing to maintain his skill level and increase his skills as well.
When he’s looking for influence, Dryden has two key people on his team that are there for him. Coach of the Huskies Eric Vincent and all of Dryden’s friends such as Josh Robinson are there for him when he needs them. Dryden and Josh have also been playing football together since they were young.
Football has meant a lot more to Dryden than just a sport, it’s his passion. “I plan on making my game better and making it somewhere one day,” added Dryden.
Throughout the years of playing football Dryden has learnt important lessons from his coach. “I’ve learned the responsibility of the sport that my coach has embedded in my head, said Dryden. “We have to perform on game day 100%, and in order for that to happen we have to give 100% in practice.”
Dryden has also learnt that he has to be a leader for the younger players, Dryden explained, “It’s taught me that I have to be a leader for the younger guys coming in and simply just to be committed to something.”
