International Developmental Fast Football League becomes first member league of National 7v7 Football Association

Bradenton, Fla. (April 1, 2013)- The National 7v7 Football Associations sphere of influence has expanded north into Canada with the addition of its first official league, the Toronto—bases International Developmental Fast Football League (IDFFL). As part of the alliance, IDFFL will utilize the official NFA7v7 rules throughout their league play, which will take place April6- May 25.

 “Similar to NFA7v7, IDFFL’s core values revolve around fundamental skills development, and providing safe, organized events for players to learn the finer points of the game and gain exposure, so we’re proud to join forces with them,” said Blake Ulrich, Director of Events, IMG Performance. “It’s really a testament to the positive direction and growing scope of 7v7 football to see another league emerge with a similar mission and goals as our own”

The relationship will also give Canadian football a presence at NFA7v7 events this season. The DIFFL will receive two automatic club team invitations to the IMG7v7 National Championships in Bradenton, FLA., June 28-30. IDFFL will be represented in the National Championships’ Club Division by Team Canada, and in the Future STARS Division by the top middle school-aged players in the program.

“I started IDFFL to provide a safe, organized platform for Canadian football players to hone their skills and so aligning with NFA7v7 was a natural fit,” remarked Anthony Cannon, Founder and CEO, IDFFL. “NFA7v7’s experience with their brand of national and regional competition provides a structure that we aim to model our own platform after, and bring a similar type of skills development to players in Canada.

The IDFFL is an instructional 7v7 football league in Canada that was co-founded in 2012 by former professional football players Anthony Cannon and Maurice Mann. They founded IDFFL to provide an environment in which participants ages 9-19 can improve their football skills, stay in shape and have fun playing in a competitive setting. Cannon played collegiately for Tulane University, and drafter by the NFL’s Detroit Lions (2006) and played with the Canadian Football League’s (CFL) Toronto Argonauts. Co-founder Mann played collegiately a the University of Nevada, and was drafter by the NFL’s Cincinnati Bengal’s (204), and spent time with the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL. Mann was a member of the Argonauts 2012 Grey Cup championship team.

About the National 7v7 Football Association (NFA7v7)

Established in the summer of 2012, the NFA7v7 is a membership-based body providing players, parents and coaches access to high-quality 7v7 football events sanctioned by the body and governed by consistent operational guidelines and rules of play.
