Gray and Lass commit to the Mustangs: Coach Marshall impressed

Peter Gray of Guelph, Ontario and Trevor Lass of Plattsville, Ontario have committed to play with the University of Western Ontario Mustangs for the 2011 season. Both players and head coach Greg Marshall talk about their decision to become Mustangs.

The Western coaching staff is extremely excited about landing these two great players.

Coach Marshall had this to say about linebacker Peter Gray:

“Peter impressed me this summer at the Canada Cup. He is a great tackler and has an impressive pass rush. He has the athletic ability and work ethic to be an outstanding linebacker.”

And Coach Marshall on Trevor Lass:

“Trevor is a talented defensive back and a very smart player. He has great range and vision at the safety position. ”

Peter was a ‘District 10″ all star from 2007 through 2010. In 2009 he was a OVFL junior varsity all star. In 2010 he was an all star at the Football Canada Cup and was the defensive MVP of the game versus Team Quebec and Team Captain.

Peter had this to say about his decision to go to western:

“Western was an easy choice for me. I felt comfortable with the players and coaching staff as i got to know them and the idea of playing for a team with the history of U.W.O also was pretty enticing. I’m excited to play my university career as a mustang.”

Trevor Lass

Trevor was a member of the 2009 and 2010 Team Ontario West team that competed at the Football Canada Cup (captain along with Peter in 2010). He was captain of the Twin Cities Varsity Predators in 2010 (OFC finalists) and a member of Twin Cities Varsity Predators OFC championship team in 2009. In 2009 Trevor was a WCSSAA (waterloo county) First Team All-Star and High School Defensive MVP.

Trevor had this to say about his decision to go to western:

“I’m really looking forward to being a part of the Western Mustangs football tradition and playing for Coach Marshall and the great coaching staff at Western.”
