CALGARY 24 AT TORONTO 27
TORONTO — Jeff Johnson’s one-yard TD run with less than two minutes remaining rallied the Toronto Argonauts to an exciting 27-24 win over the Calgary Stampeders on Wednesday night.
Johnson’s run put Toronto ahead 25-24 at 13:02 of the fourth before Cleo Lemon hit Chad Owens for the two-point convert and the three-point lead.
Calgary took over at its 31-yard line with 1:47 remaining and Toronto’s Evan McCollough’s appeared to clinch the win with his second interception of the game with 1:11 left. But after a review the pass was deemed incomplete, giving the Stampeders new life at their own 48-yard line. The visitors couldn’t do anything with the second chance and turned the ball over on downs.
Stampeders quarterback Henry Burris threw three TD strikes but was also intercepted four times in the game for the first time since 2000.
Both teams were playing on a short week. Toronto was coming off a 36-34 road win in Winnipeg on Friday night while Calgary defeated Hamilton 23-22 at Ivor Wynne Stadium on Saturday.
Calgary (2-1) sits second in the West Division behind Saskatchewan (3-0). Toronto (2-1) moved atop the East Division standings with its second straight win.

WINNIPEG 7 AT HAMILTON 28
HAMILTON — Hamilton quarterback Kevin Glenn threw three touchdown passes, two of them to Maurice Mann, as the Tiger-Cats defeated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 28-7 on Friday night.
It was Hamiltonβs first win of the season as they move to 1-2 while Winnipeg (1-2) dropped its second straight. The Bombers beat Hamilton 49-29 in the season-opener and the Ticats had been talking all week about retribution.
Glenn finished the game completing 29 of 36 pass attempts for 336 yards and no interceptions in front of 21,408 at Ivor Wynne Stadium. He completed his first 14 passes for sixth-best in CFL history.
DeAndra Cobb also scored two TDs for the Ticats. Winnipegβs backup QB Steven Jyles scored a TD.
Ticat kicker Sandro DeAngelis missed on both field-goal attempts, from 40 and 42 yards, as the crowd roared its disapproval.
Winnipeg’s starting quarterback Buck Pierce couldnβt get the ball moving consistently, going 10 for 19 with 117 yards and one interception in the end zone. He was replaced by Jyles in the middle of a series late in the third. The 27-year-old backup responded by completing Winnipegβs 71-yard drive in 11 plays, scoring the TD with a one-yard run to begin the fourth and make the crowd nervous with the score 21-7.
But Glenn and the Ticats came back midway through the quarter with an 87-yard drive of their own, eating up 5:44 on the clock and putting the game out of reach with a six-yard scamper by Cobb.

MONTREAL 16 AT B.C. 12
VANCOUVER — After missing a pair of field goals, Damon Duval was prepared to take the blame.
Given a chance for redemption, the Alouettes kicker booted two key field goals, then pounded a single, as Montreal churned out a 16-12 victory over the B.C. Lions on Friday night to end their West Coast jinx.
Duval finished the night 4-of-6 on field goals, the longest 40 yards, and added singles of 42 and 60 yards as Montreal snapped a nine-game losing streak in Vancouver.
The Lions offence showed some sparks but never really caught fire.
Casey Printers completed 20-of-40 passes for 253 yards, including a 14-yard touchdown to Jamal Robertson late in the first half. The Lions QB was also intercepted twice.
The victory, in front of a crowd of 25,162 at Empire Field, improves Montreal’s record to 2-1, while the Lions sit at 1-2 and are winless at home.
The last time Montreal won in Vancouver was a 35-25 triumph on Aug. 31, 2000.

EDMONTON 20 AT SASKATCHEWAN 24
REGINA — The Saskatchewan Roughriders answered Ken Miller’s challenge Saturday.
The Riders’ head coach put the onus on his players to be better in the second half and they responded, rallying from a 14-10 half-time deficit to beat the Edmonton Eskimos 24-20.
The Riders (3-0) — who wore their new black-and-red jerseys as part of their centennial celebration this season — punctuated their comeback by outscoring Edmonton 11-0 in the fourth quarter. The big play was Darian Durant’s 38-yard TD strike to Andy Fantuz at 2:30 of the fourth.
Fantuz’s TD and ensuing convert tied the score 20-20 before Louie Sakoda’s 80-yard single on the ensuing kickoff put the Riders ahead to stay.
The defence did its part. James Patrick and Brent Hawkins both recovered Edmonton fumbles in the fourth to shut the door on any hope of the Eskimos (0-3) mounting the comeback for head coach Richie Hall, the former Roughriders defensive co-ordinator.
Edmonton quarterback Ricky Ray was 22-of-31 passing for 319 yards and hooked up with Fred Stamps 12 times for 213 yards while Darian Durant was 15-of-28 passing for 238 yards and a touchdown. He also threw his first interception of the season.
