CJFL: PFC players of week 3

OFFENSE-LANDON BESSEL
REGINA THUNDER

The sophomore made his second start at pivot in last Sunday’s 39-16 home field win over Winnipeg. Bessel completed 18 of 30 passes for 310 yards and threw for three touchdowns, connecting with Clay Cooke, Will Heward on a 64-yard fourth quarter strike & Special Teams Player of the Week Mitch Thompson. Bessel also ran the ball 7 times for 65 yards including a 15-yard dash that set up the game opening touchdown.

DEFENSE-COLIN KEYS
SASKATOON HILLTOPS

The 3rd-year defensive back intercepted a pair of Trevor Erdmann passes in the Hilltops 36-10 victory over the Edmonton Huskies. One of those was a 64-yard runback. He also added a  quarterback sack, defensive tackle and an assisted stop for a total of 14 defensive points on the afternoon.

SPECIAL TEAMS-MITCH THOMPSON

Thompson returned 5 punts in the win over Winnipeg for 112 yards including a 69-yard first quarter touchdown gallop. He would also find the end zone in his primary position of receiver as he scored the game’s opening major with a 9-yard reception.
