Huskies quest for vanier cup begins

The University of Saskatchewan Huskie football team’s quest for the 2010 Vanier Cup begins Friday as the team opens fall camp at Griffiths Stadium in PotashCorp Park.

All fans, supporters and alumni are invited to attend any of the practices during the camp that runs Thursday through Sunday. The camp will feature more than 95 returning Huskies, new recruits and walk-on players. The camp begins with physical testing Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Two-a-day practices begin Saturday and run until August 26 with the exception of August 24 when the players will participate in the 11th Annual Huskie Football Fall Classic Golf Tournament at the Dakota Dunes Golf Links. The tournament is still accepting registration. On August 30 the Huskies begin regular practices each day at 5 p.m.

The Huskies begin the season with a non-conference tilt against the University of Western Ontario Mustangs on August 27 at 7 p.m. at Griffiths Stadium. They open the regular season on the road Saturday, September 4 against the University of Calgary Dinos.
