
The LeBoldus Golden Suns defeated the Winston Knoll Wolverines (CFC top 25 honourable mention) 26-6 to kick off a Regina Intercollegiate Football League doubleheader.
Noah Picton completed eight of 10 passes for 141 yards, including a seven-yard touchdown connection with Christian Mbanza, to help the suns defeat the wolverines. Mbanza also rushed for 87 yards on 10 carries. David Craig Penner rushed for two Golden Suns touchdowns. He gained 68 yards on nine carries.
Wolverines quarterback Jaeden Marwick completed 13 of 17 passes for 116 yards in his first RIFL start. Preston Bews caught an 11-yard TD pass from Marwick.
The other regina game saw the Luther Lions defeat the Martin Monarchs 40-0 in Stewart Conference play.
Luther’s Nick Schroeder rushed nine times for 121 yards. He had TD runs of 20, 55 and 17 yards. Remington Winter and Ethan Hautz also scored majors on the ground for Luther, which improved its record to 2-0. Luther also scored on a two-yard pass from Spencer Mack to John Coles.
Luther and the O’Neill Titans (also 2-0) are the only undefeated teams in the Stewart Conference.
