
Following the Labour Day bye, the BCFC resumed this past weekend with Week 7.
The first place Okanagan Sun raised their record to 6-1 following at 48-0 win over Chilliwack and clinched a playoff spot. It marks the four consecutive game the Sun have shut-out the Huskers.
In a rain drenched Apple Bowl the Sun were led by their defence who hasnβt allowed a point since August 14th. The βDβ had three interceptions returned for touchdowns and tied a CJFL regular season record that was set in 1951 by the Windsor AKO Fratman of the OFC. The first of three was Jesse Warawa who picked off his league leading seventh pass of the season and ran it back 51 yards for the major. Not to be outdone Daylon Pommier had a 61 yard pick six, while Wyatt Smith ran back an interception 48 yards. Charles Henderson led the Sun with four solo tackles, one assist, two special teams tackles and two special team assists. Nemanja Miskin added six tackles, while Pommier had six tackles and an assist.
The offense of the Sun sputtered as quarterback Bobby Davis was five of nine for just 56 yards and had a touchdown. Matt Scheurwater caught two balls for 28 yards, while Dan Turekβs only catch was a 13 yard touchdown.
On the ground the Sun were led by Tore Tarcon with five carries for 94 yards including a 65 yard touchdown. Meanwhile Arman Bokitch carried it 10 times for 54 yards and a touchdown.
The Chilliwack Huskers fall to 0-7 on the year despite out gaining the Sun. The Huskers totalled 303 yards compared to the 244 yards by the Sun. Starter Clayton Kroeker, coming off an injury was 13 of 25 for 140 yards and had two interceptions.
Adam Leggott was the favourite target for all three Huskers quarterbacks. Leggott caught seven passes for 91 yards. Adann Hendrickson caught four passes for 42 yards and was six of 13 for 78 yards throwing.
On the ground the Huskers were frustrated gaining just 43 yards on 14 carries. Austin Kappel had two runs for 20 yards.
Defensively the Huskers were led by Mike Decloedt who had four tackles and a forced fumble. Jayson Bates had four tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery, while Jason Dumas picked off a pass and had four tackles.
The 6-1 Sun will travel to Surrey on Sunday, while the 0-7 Huskers will welcome the VI Raiders on Saturday.

The Vancouver Island Raiders kept pace with the Sun after a 57-7 drubbing of the Victoria Rebels and also clinched a playoff spot.
The Raiders were led by the running game as they picked up 260 yards. Jordan Botel carried the ball nine times for 144 yards and a touchdown, quarterback Jordan Yantz had six carries for 47 yards and scored two touchdowns, while Zack Brandham had a score on four carries.
Yantz completed just 10 passes on Saturday for 127 yards and threw two more touchdowns to add to his league lead of 21. Andrew Smith caught six passes for 55 yards and a touchdown and Michael Schaper had three catches for 62 yards and a major.
Nick Lauder continues to be great on special teams as he returned a kick-off 100 yards for a touchdown, his second of the season.
Defensively the Raiders were terrific again, allowing just 90 yards of total offense by the Rebels. Cam Hoffman had a tackle, six assists, a knock down and recovered a fumble. Nick Woznesenski and Ranji Atwall had sacks. Prashant Chaube and Ryan Benjamin each had a pick. Atwall had seven assist and Andrew Oake had two solo tackles, four assists and a special teams tackle.
Victoria Rebels fall to 3-4 as they struggled to move the ball. Nick Cobb was three of four for 30 yards and Cat Todorovich was just three of 18 for 38 yards and a touchdown. Sam Adu caught two passes out of the back field and caught the only touchdown pass.
Three weeks ago the Rebels were able to gain 214 yards on the ground against the Raiders. However Saturday the Rebels managed just 47 yards. League leader Adu was held to seven carries for 10 yards. The leading rusher was quarterback Cobb who carried it three times for 17 yards.
On the defence side, the Rebels were unable to force a turnover. Adam Grilj had a tackle and six assists, while Antinio White had two tackles and a four assists. The lone Rebels sack came from Sean Bissonnette.
The 6-1 Raiders will travel to Chilliwack on Saturday, while the 3-4 Rebels will stay on the road and visit Kamloops.

Saturday night the BCFC saw the biggest upset of the season on a very windy night in Kamloops. The Broncos held off the South Surrey Rams 13-5. The teams combined for just 353 yards.
The Broncos, with an interim head coach managed just 31 yards through the air as Jesse Neufeld was five of nine. Due to medical circumstances Darryl Chow took the helm from Rob Ellis and is 1-0.
The lone Broncos touchdown was scored on the ground after a lack of passing game. Spencer Martin had the score with 18 carries for 71 yards. Clayton Ludba carried the rock 15 times for 71 yards and had two catches for 19 yards.
The other six points the Broncos would score, came from the foot of kicker Aaron Smit. He would hit from 19 and 35 yards out.
The defence frustrated the Rams all night long and recorded five sacks. Scott Nelson, Alex Adams. Trent Garreck, John Walden and Colton Hodges each had a sack. Grady Chalmers had three tackles, a fumble recovery and an interception. Mitch Day had four tackles and five assists.
The win raises the Broncos record to 3-4 and is the biggest win in franchise history. As a matter of fact itβs the first win against a team other than the Huskers or Trojans.
Following the loss the South Surrey Rams fall to 3-4 and a three way tie with the Broncos and Rebels for the final two playoff spots.
A very injured Rams team limped into Kamloops on Saturday night as offense was held off the score sheet. Quarterback Nathaniel White was four of 12 for 62 yards and Taylor Potkins was five of 11 for 39 yards. Griffin Bullock caught three of the nine completions for 32 yards.
The Rams running game was also held in check by the Broncos as Jake Glass had six carries for 45 yards and White scrambled seven times for 33 yards.
Kicker Nick Boyd missed three field goals, but did record a single. The other four points the Rams would record came on safeties.
Defensively the Rams were solid. Greg Sage had five tackles and three assists, while Spencer Boehm had four tackles and eight assists and Jon Ellingson had five tackles and four assists. Belah Small picked off his seventh pass of the year to tie him with Jesse Warawa of the Sun. Nine Rams players had a multi tackle game.
The 3-4 Broncos will welcome the Rebels on Saturday night, while the 3-4 Rams will host the Sun on Sunday.
