Lancer Football returns home to take on York on Windsor Minor Football Day

The Lancer Football program returns home this Saturday afternoon for Windsor Minor Football Day, as they take on the York Lions. Kick off is set for 1pm at Alumni Field.

Coming off of their bye week, the Lancers have had time to reset their strategy and fine tune some of the wrinkles in their game. The Lancers will look to continue their trend against the Lions as they have posted a 4-0 record against the Lion since 2006.

The Lancers are looking to move to 2-4 on the season and keep their playoff hopes alive. The Lions who are 0-5 are looking for their first win of the season after coming off of a 64-6 loss to the McMaster Marauders last week.

Quarterback Sam Malian has returned to the line up after being out for a couple of weeks with a concussion. Malian will look to return to form against the Lions defence which averages 460 yards against per game.

In his first game back from injury against McMaster two weeks ago, Malian finished 8 of 20 passing for 125 yards. Malian and the Lancers spent the better part of their bye week looking for ways to free up their offensive weapons.
The Lancers defence will also need to rebound from the McMaster loss if they are to shut down quarterback Nick Coutu and the Lions offence who has only managed to put up 44 points in five contests this season.

As part of Windsor Minor Football all minor football players wearing their team’s jersey will get into the game for free of charge.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
