1. (NC) Laval Rouge et or – (6-0) +168
The rouge et or continue to play awesome defense. Will get a test at home this week against the 5 and 1 gaiters. Does Benoit Groulx have any tricks up his sleeve for his former team?
2. (NC) Calgary Dinos (4-1) +9
BYE. Finish with Saskatchewan, Regina, and Alberta. And then probably 2 of those teams again during the playoffs (if they win). What a finish.
3. (NC) Regina Rams – (4-1) +109
Bye. Finish year at Manitoba, home versus Calgary, and at Saskatchewan.
4. (NC) Western Mustangs – (5-1) +133
Bye. Finish with York and Toronto. Will get second place and the bye unless Gee Gees lose to guelph at home…then first place.
5. (NC) Bishops Gaiters (5-1) +68
The Gaiters went into a hostile environment in Sherbrooke and demolished their cross town rivals. At Laval sunday. Guess we will see how good this team is this week.
6. (NC) Saskatchewan Huskies (3-2) +76
Bye. Finish year at Calgary, at UBC, and home versus Regina.
7. (NC) Montreal Carabins (4-2) +30
Lost to Laval at home in a close game. Their offense just was not good enough. Their achilles heel going forward?
8. (NC) Ottawa Gee Gees – (6-1) +80
Gee Gees were able to move on from disappointing loss in Toronto and ran away from the hawks in the second half. Brad Sinopoli is your OUA hec nominee.
9. (NC) McMaster Mauraders – (5-2) 70
Offense looked great against guelph. Defense still tries to ‘prevent’ themselves from winning whenever they get a lead. Can last years kicker step up in crapigna’s absence?
10. (11) Alberta Golden Bears (2-3) -32
Bye. Finish year home to UBC, home to Manitoba, and at Calgary.
11. (12) Concordia Stingers (3-3) -30
The young stingers keep finding a way to win. Finish with Sherbooke, Montreal & Laval. Better win this week against sherbrooke. That would give the last playoff spot in the Q and end Sherbrooke’s season.
12. (10) Wilfrid Laurier Hawks- (3-3) +49
What a year for the hawks. The biggest off field question is if they lose montoya and the game versus toronto. Regardless must beat one of queen’s and windsor to get into playoffs…we think.
13. (14) Guelph Gryphons (3-3) -17
In a chippy affair the gryphons fell behind early against mac and just did not have enough to come back. Must win against windsor this week.
14. (17) Queens Gaels – (2-4) +49
An Old Four match up is what the doctor ordered for the gaels. The question isn’t weather sam sabourin should be OUA/CIS rookie of the year it is whether he should be president’s nominee for the conference.
15. (13) Sherbrooke Vert et or (2-4) -20
Were trounced at home against cross town rival gaiters. Must defeat Concordia this week to give them a shot at a playoff spot. Can they do it without Shoiry?
16. (15) UBC Thunderbirds (1-4) -64
Lost to Simon Fraser in the Shrum Bowl by a touchdown. Finish year at Alberta, home vs. Saskatchewan and at Manitoba.
17. (16) Manitoba Bisons (1-4) -98
Bye. Finish year home vs. Regina, at Alberta, and home vs. UBC.
18. (19) Saint Mary’s Huskies – (2-3) 12
Jahmeek Taylor (formerly murray) and the defense continue to shine for the huskies. Offense still needs to catch up for them to have a chance to go far this year. Finally an AUS team with a positive for and against.
19. (21) Acadia Axemen (3-2) -20
Big victory for the axemen in sackville on the weekend. Used some trickery, great defense and specials to win. Can they do it twice in a row?
20. (24) Windsor Lancers (2-4) -38
Back on track against york. Finish the year against Guelph and Laurier and could make the playoffs if they win both of those games.
21. (18) Toronto Varsity Blues (2-4) -97
Biggest upset of the year to trounced by defending vanier champs. What a difference a week can make in football.
22. (18) Mount Allison Mounties (2-3) -37
Fell apart at home in the 3rd quarter against the axemen. Offense continues to move the ball without Ross but will be better when he returns.
23. (22) Saint Francis Xavier (1-4) -59
Looked terrible at home against SMU. Young team needs to get quality reps for their young guys. Will be a tough team to beat in next couple years.
24. (23) McGill Redmen (0-6) -102
We don’t think mcgill is the 24th team in the country but they can’t win any close ones. Offense needs to be reevaluated head to toe.
25. (NC) York Lions (0-6) -229
Coach Craney has 2 weeks left until recruiting becomes a 24/7 job.
CFCs “TOP 10” MUST SEE CIS GAMES
