On Sunday afternoon the Vancouver Island Raiders won their fifth consecutive Cullen
Cup Championship.
The #1 offence in the country was led the BCFC top receiver and
Offensive Player of the Week, Michael Schaper. The CJFL record holder for yards in a
single season (1,179) made a team high five catches for 71 yards. All five of his
catches were made at critical times and kept Raider drives alive. Surprisingly this is the
first time this season Schaper has won this award.

Sunday afternoon was a heartbreaking loss for the Okanagan Sun. The #1 defence
in the country stood tall and were led by BCFC Defensive Player of the Week
Derek Hurlock. The Sarnia, Ontario native had a team high five solo tackles, two
sacks, one assisted tackle, a forced fumble and put plenty of pressure on the
quarterback. This is the first time Hurlock has won this award, but the third time a
Sun defender has been honoured.

For the second consecutive week the BCFC Special Teams Player of the Week is
Vancouver Island Raiders kicker Mark Mueller. His 28 yard field goal with under
a minute to play sealed the Raiders fifth straight Cullen Cup. Mueller accounted
for 10 of the 16 points, was good on all three field goal attempts (23, 28, 33) and
was 1-1 in converts. He made nine punts for 301 yards and four kick offs for 123
yards.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
