CJFL Outstanding Offensive Player of the Week

Martin Hovi – Running back – Winnipeg Rifles

The rookie tailback came in for an injured Kienan LaFrance in the first quarter of Sunday’s
semi-final defeat in Saskatoon and provided a spark to what had been a struggling Winnipeg
offense. He would lug the leather 21 times for 237 yards and scored two touchdowns, with the
second major being a 75-yard run that got the Rifles to within 11 points at 36-25. Hovi is a
product of Beaver Brae High School in Kenora, Ontario.

CJFL Outstanding Defensive Player of the Week

Graig Newman – Defensive back – Saskatoon Hilltops

The 4th-year safety had a magnificent game in the Hilltops 59-25 semi-final victory over
Winnipeg as he would rack up 6 tackles, 3 assists, knocked down a pair of passes, had an
interception in addition to 2 special teams assists, which was good for 27 points on the
afternoon. The 27-point day ranks 3rd all-time in defensive points in a single PFC playoff
game which surpasses former Hilltop Thomas Irving who had a 24-point game in 2007 and
was only 4 points back of the all-time leading total of 31 which was set by Regina’s Steve
Wilson in a 2003 playoff game.

CJFL Outstanding Special Teams Player of the Week

Justin Boudreau – Kicker – Hamilton Hurricanes

Justin earned the special teams award for his outstanding play as the Canes defeated the Ottawa Sooners 21-17 for the Teddy Morris Memorial Trophy. The 5’11” 200 pound member of the 2010 OFC Champions kicked 19 times Sunday. He punted 13 times for 437 yards, a 33.6
average. His 4 kickoffs travelled 215 yards for a 53.8 average. He was good on both convert attempts.
