Danny Maciocia to accept head coach job with Montreal Carabins

It is being reported that Danny Maciocia, the former Edmonton Eskimo General Manager and Head Coach, will accept the Montreal Carabins head coaching position.

The job became vacant when the contract of Marc Santerre was not renewed.

Santerre’s five year regular season record was 26 and 15. In the playoffs, the carabins did not fare as well, posting a 1 and 5 record. The only victory was last year against Bishop’s in the semi-finals. Losses include this years loss to Sherbrooke, 3 losses to Laval, and 1 loss to Concordia in 2007.

Arash Madani and CKAC are reporting that he has accepted the job, citing ‘reliable’ sources. Maciocia has been in talks with McGill for their Offensive Coordinator position.

Officials from Montreal deny any such hiring and have not set a date for a press conference for a new head coach.

Maciocia is currently living in Montreal and has volunteered his time with the André-Grasset Phénix, CEGEP AA Division 2 team, as the offensive coordinator. They play in the Bol d’or this weekend (CEGEP championship game).
