Official song of IFAF World Championship: “it’s catchy”

One of Austria’s top groups – Sony recording artists Trackshittaz – plan to perform ‘Touchdown’ in Vienna during tournament medal rounds

Trackshittaz, an Austrian group with a Number One hit single and album in the Top 40 music charts, has collaborated with the American Football Bund Γ–sterreich (AFBΓ–) to produce the IFAF Senior World Championship official song ‘Touchdown’.

The IFAF Senior World Championship is held every four years having first been contested in 1999.
This summer’s tournament will feature eight nations from four continents – Australia, Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico and United States – competing in Vienna, Innsbruck and Graz from July 8-16.

Lukas PlΓΆchl and Manuel Hoffelner produced the energetic official song that describes everything important about American football, including giving your best on the field, cheerleaders and cheering for the players. The band was the first hip-hop Artist to top the Austrian charts when the single ‘Oida Taunz’ went to number one and was founded in the Spring of 2010 by PlΓΆchl and Hoffelner who go by the stage names of G-Neila and Manix.

Having screened many bands and received demos, Jessica Schwarz of AFBΓ– approached Sony Music and Trackshittaz asking if they would consider a cooperation regarding the IFAF World Championship of American Football in Austria 2011.

G-Neila and Manix immediately agreed, saying: “Although we do not play American Football and only have little knowledge of the rules, we think this is a very cool sport which absolutely represents and fits our style: hard, straight ahead and right in your face.”

Michael EschlbΓΆck of AFBΓ– added: “My view is similar. We fit together. They are young, fresh-faced and just go for it.”

‘Touchdown’ is now available to download. Fans can find the song and other Trackshittaz hits at www.trackshittaz.at and through iTunes and the music video can be viewed at the IFAF YouTube website www.YouTube.com/IFAFinsider and at http://www.myvideo.at/watch/8178313 if viewing restrictions apply.

The pair’s debut single ‘Oida taunz!’ (‘Buddy dance!’) entered the Austrian singles charts at Number 1 at the beginning of November 2010 and has the distinction of being the first-ever Austrian single released in download only format. The follow-up Trackshittaz single ‘Guuugarutz’ (‘Corn’), released in January 2011, also went straight to the top of the charts.

Between October 2010 and January 2011, PlΓΆchl participated in the Austrian casting show ‘Helden von Morgen’ – a concept similar to ‘American Idol’ on ORF (Austrian Broadcasting Association). Following his performance in the very first show he was signed along with Hoffelner by Sony Music Austria.

Lukas finished second in the casting show and Trackshittaz also were voted into second place in the Austrian elimination heats for the right to represent their nation at the annual Eurovision Song Contest.

The style of the Trackshittaz has been described as Tractor-gangsta-party-rap” and is similar to a hip-hop form known as ‘Dirty South’. The band’s lyrics are written in an Upper Austrian dialect.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
