What makes Simard interesting though is the contrast behind it all. On the field, he models parts of his game after former LSU and NFL star Tyrann Mathieu, a player known for instincts, swagger, and making chaos happen around the football. Before kickoff, however, Simard is not blasting aggressive hype music trying to raise his heartbeat. He is listening to jazz.
That probably tells you a lot about how he approaches football mentally.
The QuΓ©bec City native started playing football in Secondary 1 and quickly connected with the atmosphere surrounding the sport. The energy of the locker room, the relationships between teammates, and years spent watching Odell Beckham Jr. dominate NFL highlights helped pull him deeper into the game. Eventually the Browns became his favourite team simply because he followed OBJ there after his trade from the Giants.
Now Simard enters the next stage of his football journey after building a strong career with the Saint-Jean-Eudes Condors before preparing to suit up for CNDF. Along the way he became one of the top defensive backs in QuΓ©bec juvenile football, earning JuvΓ©nile D1 Defensive Player of the Year honours in 2025 while also landing on the all-star team during his rookie season in 2024. Over the past two seasons alone, Simard combined for nine interceptions, two pick sixes, 62 tackles, four tackles for loss, and two punt return touchdowns.
Simard says the biggest lesson he learned during the CFC Prospect Game process was understanding that every time you stop working, somebody else is still grinding to catch you. That mentality tends to separate good players from players who continue climbing.
And based on his goals heading into Hamilton, Simard is not planning on blending quietly into the background.
