Class of 2027 WR Luca Romeo out of St. Mary in Hamilton, Ontario has been around football culture for most of his life, but not in the usual way.

Long before he was catching passes in showcase events or earning Offensive MVP honours at St. Mary, Romeo was already inside the Hamilton Tiger-Cats organization as a kid obsessed with the CFL game. While most young players watched from the stands, he spent years around locker rooms, practices, and equipment staff, soaking everything in.
That connection turned into something much bigger over time.
Romeo has now accumulated more than 1,700 volunteer hours working with the Tiger-Cats as an equipment assistant, building relationships with people throughout the organization while learning the game from the inside. He credits Hamilton equipment manager Drew Strohschein and former Tiger-Cats head coach and current President of Football Operations Orlondo Steinauer for helping shape both his football journey and his confidence as a young athlete chasing the sport seriously.
The Hamilton native has also spent years training with former CFL receivers David Ungerer III and Tyler Ternowski, two mentors he describes more like family than coaches.
That influence shows up in the way Romeo approaches the game. There is polish to his route running, confidence in how he carries himself, and a clear understanding of football culture that feels older than his age.
After earning Offensive MVP as a quarterback in 2024 with 1,075 passing yards and nine touchdowns, Romeo transitioned into more of a receiver role in 2025 and exploded for 35 receptions, 698 all-purpose yards, and four touchdowns at St. Mary while also helping the Hamilton Jr. Tiger-Cats capture an OSFL AAA provincial championship.
Born in Hamilton on December 25th, Romeo now heads into the CFC Prospect Game on TSN in the same city where he grew up dreaming about moments like this in the shadow of Hamilton Stadium.
