CFC25 Tier II Rankings WEEK 1: Bev Facey making waves as the newest addition to 4A

Welcome Back!

Another summer has unofficially come and gone. It’s a somber time of year for the majority of students across Canada, but we know it brings tears of happiness to all the players and coaches who have been dreaming about hitting the field again for another season of high school football madness.

As always, September is an adventurous month for the rankings with teams looking to make an early statement about their intentions this year. If you’re not happy about your spot today, rest assured the final rankings will look vastly different when the dust has settled in November.

The only thing we can promise is a wild ride with peaks and valleys that nobody can predict. So strap yourself in for another journey through the chaotic world of Canadian high school football.

CFC25 Tier II Rankings Rebrand

The CFC25 Small School Rankings are now the CFC25 Tier II Rankings, a new name that better reflects the competitive landscape of high school football across Canada.

The CFC50 National Rankings feature programs eligible to compete for their province’s highest-level championship, including Ontario programs eligible for an OFSAA Bowl.

The CFC25 Tier II Rankings spotlight the best programs competing in lower provincial classifications and divisions.

The mission hasn’t changed. We’re still shining a national spotlight on programs from coast to coast. The new name simply removes school size from the equation that was cause for confusion in the past and puts the focus on the level of competition on the field.

Top Headlines

• It’s rare when the top team from last year drops dramatically in the first edition of the rankings, but Quebec is already providing some juicy drama in the standings. Week two featured a Bol d’Or rematch between Dalbe-Viau and St-Jean-Vianney, and this time the Dragons flipped the script coming out on top 21-14. This came off the back off of losing their opener 30-28 to Roger-Comtois, who have now claimed the top spot for Quebec ranked teams after defeating College de Levis 16-15 in week two. Saint-Joseph and Triolet also sit at 2-0 atop the standings, but it’s still too early to really determine the true hierarchy. We’ll get some clarity this week with Dalbe-Viau taking on Saint-Joseph, and Triolet facing off against St-Jean-Vianney. If the first two weeks are any indication, it’s going to be a very chaotic campaign in Juvenile DII.

CFC100 CLASS 2027 RANKINGS

• We now head to Alberta where we’ve got a new addition to the 4A ranks with Bev Facey dropping down a division to compete in the 4A provincial playdowns. Football Alberta does note that the final classifications will be determined when the official school enrollment numbers are finalized at the end of September, but for now we will treat them as a 4A program. With the administration part out of the way, let’s get to the fun part. Despite their new classification, Bev Facey managed to topple the defending 5A champions Ernest Manning by a score of 30-18 in their first exhibition game of the season. Even with the context of it being exhibition, it’s still a shocking result with Bev Facey putting everybody else on notice that they are not ready to lay down for anybody in 2026. Now they are preparing for the battle of Sherwood Park against Salisbury this week, who also have high hopes for a big campaign and will provide a great measuring stick to find out where each program stands.
