Eli Ankou (Ottawa – St Peter’s) became the third Canadian to verbally commit to an FBS program for 2012, and the UCLA Bruins 9th 2012 commit. Ankou recently took an ‘unofficial’ trip to the Los Angeles for camps at UCLA and USC. He decided to commit to UCLA who was the first FBS school to offer him a scholarship a few months ago.
Ankou told ‘247 sports’ that “I committed to the staff today. I still wanted to get more offers but I have liked UCLA for a long time and after the visit, it did’t make sense to wait any longer since I fell in love with it while I was there.”

Eli will be attending school in Delaware (Red Lions Christian Academy) for his grade 12 season.
Eli has been attending a number of camps in the United States this past year. Like Akeel Lynch who has receiver multiple offers, and Terrell Davis who committed to Washington State, being seen and judged against U.S. talent gave these players the edge they needed to be noticed by NCAA FBS schools. And the fact that Eli is 6 foot 3 and 245 pounds with a great athletic ability helped turn heads.
NOTE: Other players who have verbally committed to FBS schools are Ottawa’s Ryan Duoll (Virginia) and Victoria’s Terrell Davis (Washington State).
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
