OMFL: “Watch out, the Storm is coming!!”

Varsity

The Storm dominated the Pickering Dolphins in all 3 facets of the game. The offence moved the ball and controlled the clock while the Defence shut down the attack of the Dolphins. Special teams counted for a TD as well. The turning point of this game was the opening kickoff. The Storm dominated the game from that point on. Final score 28 to 0.

Scoring for the Storm:
# 12 Greg Lamb – 1 Rushing TD and 3 Converts
# 80 Trey Gervais – 1 TD Reception
# 52 Lucas Fryer – 1 TD Run (first TD of his carrier)
# 72 Luka Trifunovic – 1 Blocked punt recovered for TD (first TD of his carrier)

Coach Moses had this to say about the game. “As the Storm approaches the playoffs we are starting to come together as a team and it has showed the past two weeks on the field. The guys are Playing like a team, on and off the field. They show up early to the field just to hang out with the other players. On the field they are putting it all together. The playoffs are approaching and I look forward to playing the teams that beat us in the beginning. Watch out, the Storm is coming!!”

Junior Varsity

The Storms offence played outstanding football on Sunday controlling the ball and scoring when it needed too. The offensive line played great, giving all of our running backs space to run the ball. Defensively the Storms secondary played well keeping the Orangeville air attack in check for most of the day.

Zach Godin had some spectacular runs to setup scores, and Graham Dowd had another great game. The full backs Benny Ferrera and Rich Olinski with the offensive line played outstanding. Matt Lane had a great day kicking the ball and converting a 2pt convert on a broken play. Watson Van Soelen along with the rest of the DBs played well containing the Orangeville receivers. Tyler Cleveland, Jake Richardson came in and provided good pressure on the Orangeville QB late to help seal the game. Final score Storm 32, Orangeville Outlaws 20.

Coach Richardson had this to say about the performance. “Offensively we played consistent and controlled the ball on the ground! Defence needs to learn how to tackle in game situations. Too many times we were in position to make the stop and for whatever reason let them off the hook with poor tackling. If we’re going to have any success in the playoffs, that has to change. It was great to get the win at home and we are looking forward to the playoffs.”
