Red River Cup: Thunder Bay’s Caleb White leads team to victory over Nova Scotia (video)


At the 20 minute mark, Thunder Bay’s Caleb White picked off a Duncan Patterson pass, but Nova Scotia’s defence kept Thunder Bay’s offence out of the end zone. Thunder Bay’s Liam Ford punted the ball through the end zone to open up the game.

At the mid‐point of the first half, #29 Caleb VanderPloeg of Thunder Bay intercepted a Duncan Patterson pass and set up a Cody Sheedy plunge of 1 yard for the game’s first touchdown. Later in the first half, Patterson was sacked by #55 Keenan Postans and recovered his own fumble. This set up a 2 yard touchdown run by Kyle Trodd. With 21 seconds left in the half, Josh Whitehurst scored from a reverse. A failed convert made it 21‐0 at the end of the half.

At 15:21, David Nesbit ran 34 yards for a touchdown to give Nova Scotia its first points of the game. About 5 minutes later, Josh Whitehurst caught a 36 yard bomb by #12 Dillan Tataryn, putting Thunder Bay on the 20 yard line and setting up Liam Fors for a 27 yard field goal.

With about a minute to go, #34 Caleb White picked off another pass from Duncan Patterson, sealing the game and his player of the game honours.
