Commissioner Cohon releases statement about passing of Blue Bomber Harris

A Statement from CFL Commissioner Mark Cohon on the sudden passing of Winnipeg Blue Bomber Defensive Line and Assistant Head Coach Richard Harris

Toronto, Ontario (July 26, 2011) – ”On behalf of our Board of Governors, our teams and our fans across the country, I want to express my deepest sympathies to Coach Harris’ family, as well as his many close friends across our league.

I had the good fortune to chat with him on the sideline in Winnipeg only recently, and that experience confirmed for me what I had always heard about Coach Harris – that this was a man of tremendous warmth and knowledge, a true gentleman and a credit to our game.”

Blue Bombers:

“This has struck our entire organization from the top down,” Bomber president Jim Bell said in a release. “We are all in a state of shock and first and foremost would like to express our deepest sympathies to his family. The Winnipeg Football Club has lost not only a great coach, but an even better man.”

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
