TORONTO — Chad Kackert, Jonathan Hefney, Paul McCallum and Dave Stala were named the Gibson’s Finest CFL Players of the Week for the fifth week of the 2011 season.

Gibson’s Finest CFL Offensive Player of the Week

Toronto Argonauts’ rookie running back Chad Kackert had his strongest game of the season against the Edmonton Eskimos on Friday night. The former University of New Hampshire Wildcat earned the title of Gibson’s Finest CFL Offensive Player of the Week, registering 20 carries for 139 yards and two touchdowns. His longest carry of the game, a 23-yarder, is also his longest of the season.
Kackert scored his first touchdown with an 11-yard run in the first quarter. His second touchdown, an eight-yarder, occurred in the second. Kackert’s contribution was still not enough for the Argos to beat the undefeated Esks, as they lost 26-25 at Commonwealth Stadium.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers defensive back Jonathan Hefney was awarded Gibson’s Finest CFL Defensive Player of the Week in Thursday’s game against the BC Lions. Hefney registered nine tackles and a 20-yard kickoff return in the Bombers’ 25-20 win over the Lions at Canad Inns Stadium. In Hefney’s third season with the Bombers, he has registered 30 tackles, one sack and one interception.

BC Lions 20 @ Winnipeg Blue Bombers 25
BC Lions kicker Paul McCallum earned the title of Gibson’s Finest CFL Special Teams Player of the Week in Thursday’s 25-20 loss against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. McCallum connected on all four field goal attempts, with his longest, a 46-yarder, occurring in the fourth quarter. McCallum also registered one convert, one single, nine punts for 413 yards and five kickoffs for 319 yards.

Dave Stala
WR – Hamilton Tiger-Cats
Montreal Alouettes 26 @ Hamilton Tiger-Cats 34
Hamilton Tiger-Cats wide receiver Dave Stala was awarded Gibson’s Finest CFL Canadian Player of the Week in Friday evening’s game against the Montreal Alouettes. Stala led the Ticats’ receiving corps with five receptions for 107 yards and two touchdowns in Hamilton’s 34-26 win over the Als.
Stala caught his first touchdown pass, a 10-yarder from Kevin Glenn ( @qterback5), in the first quarter. His longest reception of the game was a 58-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter.
