PLAYOFF PREDICTIONS (Last weeks record 3 & 2 & overall – 7-4)

OVFL

Toronto Thunder @ Ottawa Myers Riders
Saturday August 13th – 6 pm – Minto Field

The Thunders only ‘non-forfeit’ loss of the year was to the Riders in week 4 by a score of 15 to 0. In that game the Thunder were the hometeam. Line play and ‘big plays’ may be the difference maker in this one. If the Riders can limit the Thunder big play ability they will come out victorious because they should hold the edge in line play. A shoot-out is in favour of the Thunder.

Riders 19 Thunder 17

Mississauga Warriors @ Hamilton Ironmen
Sunday August 14th – 4:30 pm – Ron Joyce Stadium (McMaster)
Note: Originally reported as 1pm

Both teams are coming off last minute / overtime victories which should give them equal emotional maturity to ‘bank on’ when the going gets tough in this game. The Ironmen walked away with 32 to 19 victory over the Warriors in week 4 in Mississauga. CLICK HERE for link to that game article.

In that game special teams were a major concern for the Warriors. Both teams came out slow with an Ironmen 8 to 0 halftime lead the result. Quarterback play may be the difference in this one. Both Warrior QB Aaron Clarke and Ironmen QB Alex Hill will need to use their legs to get their teams some important first downs.

PLAYOFF PREDICTIONS (Last weeks record 5-0 & overall – 9-2)

JUNIOR VARSITY

Toronto Thunder @ Ottawa Myers Riders
Saturday August 13th – 3 pm – Minto Field

Myers Riders have been unbeatable all year. The Riders walloped the Thunder in week 4 by a score of 63 to 9. This game won’t be the same but the Riders should win with the depth of Talent. QB play will be important and the Riders have the best one in the league with Michael Arruda. If the Riders can shut down Thunder receiver Dejaun Martin they should cruise to victory.

Riders 29 Thunder 17

Mississauga Warriors @ Cambridge Lions
Friday August 12th – 8 pm – Jacob Hespeler

This one is a rematch of a week 3 match up that saw the Warriors win 21 to 10. The Warriors boost an athletic group that can strike at any time. The Lions have a more methodical approach, bolstered by the top front 7 in JV football. Receivers Adam Mueller (Lions) and Trey Ivey (Warriors) should have big games in this one as both teams have some holes in the back end. Defensive secondary play and Quarterbacking will be the difference.
