Alexandre Nadeau-Piuze, Billy Lemoine and William Dion named players of the week

Quarterback Alexandre Nadeau-Piuze of the University of Montreal Carabins, and defensive end Billy Lemoine as well as kicker William Dion of the University of Sherbrooke Vert & Or, have been selected as the RSEQ University Football League’s players of the week for the period ending September 4, 2011.

Highlights : When Alexandre Nadeau-Piuze joined the action during the second quarter in replacement of Yan Cyr, he completely changed the course of the match with the Carabins trailing 1-7 against the McGill Redmen. The Blues’ pivot threw three touchdown passes before the halftime break to put his side in the driver’s seat, up 22-7. Nadeau-Piuze completed 23 of 32 attempted passes for 283 yards.

Highlights : Lemoine was rock solid on the D-Line. The defensive end picked up a pair of assisted tackles and six solo tackles for a total of seven. The native of Tour, France also collected a sack for a loss of 11 yards and provoked a fumble. The senior led the Vert & Or to a 25-23 win over next-door neighbours Bishop’s Gaiters.

Highlights : Dion’s performance makes it for a second Vert & Or player to receive a weekly mention after greatly contributing to his side’s victory over the weekend. The History student kicked 11 punts, including a 73 yard bomb for a single. He was also perfect on his field goal attempts (a pair of 21 and 36 yards place kicks), producing his team’s only points in the first quarter.
