
HAMILTON, Ont. – The following athletes have been named OUA Football Players of the Week for the period ending October 10, 2011.
OFFENCE: Kyle Quinlan, McMaster Marauders, Quarterback
After a three-game hiatus, this veteran quarterback returned as a starter to throw for 455 yards and five touchdowns. The fourth-year Marauder moved into the fourth spot on McMaster’s all-time career passing touchdowns list with 36. He also took fourth spot in career passing yards at McMaster with a total of 4561. The South Woodslee, Ont. native threw for those 455 yards and five touchdowns in only three quarters of football in McMasterβs 50-14 win over the Toronto Varsity Blues.
DEFENCE: Mitchell Bosch, Laurier Golden Hawks, Linebacker
Fourth-year linebacker Mitchell Bosch (Langley, B.C.) continued his outstanding season in the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks 69-3 victory over the Waterloo Warriors. Bosch led the Hawks with eight solo tackles (9.5 total tackles) in the game, while also blocking a punt, forcing a fumble and recovering a fumble. His 9.5 total tackles moves him into second all-time at Laurier for career tackles and into seventh this season in OUA football.
SPECIAL TEAMS: Dan Village, Queenβs Gaels, Kicker
Dan Villageβs nine point performance clinched the game for the Gaels and solidified his name in CIS history. Village (Abbotsford, B.C.) hit two field goals against the Lancers, putting him at 50 in his career. Having entered the game with 299 career points, Village became the ninth player in CIS history to record 300 points, and the first in Gaels history to accomplish such numbers.
