CJFL players of week: Bradshaw, Nakagawa, Broom (video hilites)

Chase Bradshaw – Quarterback – Saskatoon Hilltops

The 5th-year veteran passer emerged from a first quarter funk to throw for
388 yards in Sunday’s 36-34 semi-final win over the Winnipeg Rifles.

Bradshaw engineered a huge comeback as he and his mates rallied from a
24-8 halftime deficit. Bradshaw would run for a pair of touchdowns in
the contest. The 2nd touchdown dash was one of a pair of scores in the
final two minutes that lifted the Hilltops to the victory.

Arie Nakagawa – Linebacker – Langley Rams

For the first time in recent memory a road team was victorious in a semi-final as the
Langley Rams punched their ticket to the BCFC championship for the second time in
three years. On the defensive side of the ball the Rams were led by linebacker Arie
Nakagawa who made 10 solo tackles, one assist and two special teams tackles on route
to being named the BCFC Defensive Player of the Week. It’s the second time
Nakagawa has been named the conference player of the week.

Marshal Broom – Kicker – Calgary Colts

The rookie kicker, inserted into the lineup for an injured Andrew Fabian, was good on 5 of 7 field goal attempts in Sunday’s 55-6 semi-final rout of the Regina Thunder. Broom’s first three field goals would come from 43, 44 & 49 yards to help the Colts to a 12-point first half lead. Broom would score 23 points on the day, which ties him for 5th most in a conference playoff game. Former Calgary Colt Stu Parry recorded 23 points in a playoff game October 7, 1990.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
