This is the last regular season top 10 as the whole country is now in Playoffs mode. The top 10 doesn’t mean much anymore, the W is now the only rule out there, sending losers back to the off-season.

1 – Laval (8-1)
They end the season where they started it, atop the power rankings. It hasn’t been an easy road back for the defending Vanier Cup champs. They should cross Concordia out of the way despite some injuries and host yet another Dunsmore Cup at home.

2 – McMaster (7-1)
On a bye week last week-end, they are the OUA team with the most momentum heading in next week-end’s matchup against Queen’s. They are neck to neck with a healthy Western team.

3 – UBC (6-2)
With a convincing win against Calgary to end the season, the T-Birds are the team to beat right now in Can West. Led by HEC Creigthon front runner QB Billy Green, they will need to beat Saskatchewan before a probable matchup in Calgary for the Hardy Cup.

4 – Sherbrooke (7-2)
Their only 2 losses have come to the best team of the country, the Rouge et Or. By wining for the second time of the season against the Carabins last week-end, they solidified second place in the QUFL. They will now host their first home playoff game this week-end against the same Carabins.

5 – Calgary (7-1)
1st place team that loses a game tend to fall deep in my rankings and this week is no exception. I find the Can West division hard to size right now, especially with the OUA and QUFL playing great football. They are a dangerous team, don’t be fooled by their ranking.

6 – Western (7-1)

Also on a bye week this past week-end, they will count on the return of many starters for their matchup against Windsor. I see them wining easily with QB Donnie Marshall in the lineup. If he isn’t, the game is up for grabs.

7 – Queen’s ( 7-2)
On a 7 game winning streak – best in the country- they are the best underdog in the country right now. The game against McMaster will probably be the best matchup of the week-end.

8 – MontrΓ©al (6-3)

I see the Carabins ahead of AUS top team Acadia simply because I don’t see the Axemen beating a Carabins team that has been solid against AUS opponents recently. Coach Maciocia’s team will need to beat Sherbrooke, on a field where they haven’t won since 2007, to advance.

9 – Acadia (7-1)

Hard to see Acadia any higher as they play in the weakest conference of the CIS. The matchup against St-Mary’s could crown a new AUS champion.

10 – Windsor (6-3)

A great team that just can’t be any higher since 9 other teams are better than them. With a win against Western, we’ll need to take them seriously moving forward.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
