David began playing football in the Hamilton Minor Football Association at age 11. Since then, he has developed his game and racked up experience on local circuits and at the high school level. Finding consistent success throughout his young career, David was chosen to represent Team Ontario West in last summer’s Canada Cup, an honour that supersedes the many awards he has accumulated over the years.

David states, β€œMy most memorable football experience is, without a doubt, the Canada Cup Football Tournament. It was an amazing experience to be able to play football at the highest level offered to my age.”

Though the excitement and uniqueness of competing in the nationwide event was not lost on David, the experience was certainly more than just a novelty to him. It speaks to the maturity of the star linebacker when he expresses how the tournament was a learning experience that allowed him to develop as a player, and encouraged him to assess his own skills.

β€œThe coaching was amazing and the football was fantastic. It was a good water mark for the competition I will be facing in university football.”

And compete in university football he shall. While the CIS is certain get a stud linebacker next fall, which team David will be competing for remains up in the air. The young prospect is keeping his options open in regard to which school he will attend in 2012.

David states that though β€œI intend on beginning university next year….I have not committed anywhere, I am considering all schools.”

David will study Business in the classroom next year, which is appropriate, as he doubtlessly has the tools and the potential to take care of business on the field at the next level. David displays exceptional versatility defending the pass, stopping the run, rushing the passer, and helping out on special teams. Contributing to his success in all these areas is David’s speed and lateral quickness, which allows him to swiftly penetrate the backfield, and move sideline to sideline alongside opposing running backs.

The prospect’s 4.6 forty time does justice representing his on field quickness, but you can check out the video below for confirmation of these capabilities.

In addition to the physical prowess David will lend his eventual choice of university, he will also bring experience against top competition, and leadership. Playing the position that is traditionally charged with leading a team’s defense, David embraces the pressure and responsibility of being a middle linebacker, rather than shun it.

Modeling his game after all-time NFL great Ray Lewis, David notes, β€œI like that he is not only an exceptional linebacker, but an exceptional leader on his team also, which I always try to strive towards.”

David attributes his outlook on the game of football to the influence of his father, whom he idolizes as a role model. The up and coming defensive star explains that β€œhe constantly pushes me to be a better person and a better athlete.”

Team Ontario West’s 2011 starting middle linebacker will be looking to make a splash in the CIS over the next four years.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
