Class 2012: Carabins land DB/K Sam Hodess

Victoriaville Vulkins Defensive back Sam Hodess will pursue his football career in the CIS.

Sam began his football career at a very young age playing for les Vicas de Victoriaville, a minor football program where Sam lived as a child. He then went on to play one season in the Midget AAA ranks with la Polyvalente LeboisΓ©. Sam then made his way to British Coloumbia where he played for the Hugh Boyd high school Trojans. After his season with the Trojans, Sam made the decision to return to his home and play football for the Vulkins, a CEGEP division 2 team in Victoriaville, QC.

Hodess spent the last 3 seasons with the Vulkins. He managed to win the student athelete of the year in all 3 seasons with his CEGEP team. During his time at CEGEP, sam enjoyed 3 very strong seasons becoming one of the leagues top defensive players. His best football moment also came when he was wearing a Vulkins jersey.

“My best moment was my first touchdown with the Vulkins, I intercepted a fade route on our own 35 and brought it back all the way, I will never forget that play” said Hodess.

The 6’2, 185 pound defensive back was also used as a Kicker during his time with Victoriaville.

Sam will be enrolling at the University of Montreal in January of 2012 and will be studying to become a civil engineer.

Sam added that he received alot of support from his father, mother and also his step father. They always helped him with his decisions and supported him in all of his projects. They attended almost all of Sam’s football games. He also said that his defensive back coach at CEGEP Paul Provencher is a big reason that he has been so successful.

“Paul really pushed me to become a better player, he gave me all the tools i needed to play at the next level”.
