Class 2012: Slotback Ben Agnew looking for CIS opportunity

After being named among Canada’s best players and winning a high school championship, Ben agnew wants to play at next level.

Ben began playing football when he was 4 years old. Ben played his minor football in his hometown of Moncton, N-B. Ben played his high school football with both the Junior varsity and varsity program of Bernice Macnaughtan high school, New Brunswick’s most dominant program having appeared in the championship game in 7 of the last 10 seasons. Ben also has experience at the national level as he was a member of the New Brunswick u-18 team. During his high school career ben was named an NBIAA all star and was also named among Canada’s top 100 players. Ben also won the championship this season in his final year as a Highlander. This years championship was Ben’s best moment as a football player.

“Winning the championship with my friends in my senior year after working so hard at it is something i will never forget, I dreamed about it since I was young”.

Ben stands at 5’8, 165 pounds and plays at slotback. Ben was also used this season as a free safety with the Highlanders. He has not received any offers from CIS programs but Agnew says that he would still like to pursue his football career.

“I am currently looking at Acadia University, I plan to try and play for the Axemen” said Agnew.

Ben added that his father, mother and also his grandfather were the most influential people in his life and career as they watched all of Ben’s games and always encouraged him to move forward with his career.

“They have been my biggest fans ever since i was a young boy and always stayed positive no matter what, I owe alot to them” said Ben.

Ben will be enrolling at university in September of 2012 and will be studying arts to eventually become a teacher.
