“My most memorable football experience is getting four sacks in the championship game in the grade11 ROPSSAA finals,” says Ben.

Moreover, the graduating standout played for the Mississauga Warriors of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL). In his first of two seasons with the team, Ben was team defensive MVP. Serving as team captain in the second season, Ben was awarded the team leadership award for his excellence in leadership.

Representing Team Ontario West in 2010, the star defensive end participated in the Football Canada Cup in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. Furthermore, Ben suited up for the CANAM all-stars and played in games in Virginia and New York. For two seasons, the defensive star also played in the Golden Horseshoe all-star gameand was an OVFL all-star (2010).

As for the main influence in his life on and off the field, the Spirit’s defensive end says it’s his father.

“My dad has worked as hard as anyone can to give me and my sisters the experience that he never had and he truly has turned nothing into something great,” adds Ben, who says that current NFL star Brian Orakpo of the Washington Redskins is who he tries to emulate on the field.

No matter where Ben decides to go to university, he has set high goals for himself in football and life.

“I plan on going to the CFL and it has become a huge dream of mine since the beginning of high school,” explains the graduating player who also competes in track and field. “As for school, I plan to study law and minor in business so I can take over the family business one day.”

How he plans to achieve those future goals is to use two basic things he has learned from the game of football.

“I have learned that the key to life is the perfect mixture of teamwork and self-motivation because with those things, nothing can stop you or your team,” comments Ben.
