Football New Brunswick conducted three U16 /U18 development camps during the winter at three different venues, with over 100 participants in the program. The camps were conducted by the U18 provincial team staff along with local High School coaches.
Head Coach Ed Wasson was happy with the turn out and the quality of player at the camps. βThis was an excellent opportunity for athletes to develop their skills and for the coaches to see the talent level in the provinceβ. Over the three camps athletes receiver 10 hrs. of individual skills, with an improvement level being realized for all athletes. Almost all of the athletes will participate in the U18 provincial spring football program designed to develop the Provincial Squad for the upcoming Canada Cup. Some athletes are already counting down the number of practice sessions prior to team selection.
In addition to the three development camps Football NB conducted Quarterback /Receiver camps and a Linemen camp during the March school break. Each camp was a 10 hr position specific camp where 18 QB, 30 receivers and 18 linemen received detailed basic skills sessions. The Technical Director Dave Blanchard stated that these camps go a long way in development of basic skills that athletes can put in their tool box to use with their home teams. Football NB is also running a Junior Player Development (JPD) training camp with 85 athletes from ages 11-15 in the province. This winter over 250 football players have participated in winter skill development programs as part of Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD).
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
