Class 2012 :DB/K David Deschamps will pursue career with Carabins

After 3 successful seasons with Les Lynx de Edouard-Monpetit (AAA Cegep), David Deschamps is heading to the University of Montreal to pursue his career with les Carabins.

David Began playing football when he was 7 years of age. He played with Les Barons de St-Bruno, a football organisation located on the outskirts of Montreal. He played his entire minor football career before it came time to head to CEGEP to pursue his education. During his time the Barons, David was named the special teams MVP during 2 of his seasons and also won the Jack Simpson Cup as the leagues champions. Winning the Championship with the Barons is his Best football memory.

“Winning a championship with the kids you grew up with is something that I will never forget, we had been playing together since Atom. These guys remain my friends today” said Deschamps.

When it came time to make the decision of where he would attend CEGEP, the 5’10, 190 lbs. prospect chose to attend le College Edouard-Monpetit where he played as a Defensive Back and also served as the teams Kicker. David got the opportunity to play in Quebec’s top division of CEGEP football which helped him gain enough skill to eventually move on to the CIS.

David chose Edouard-Monpetit because his brother Sebastien had done the same and he knew that it was a great college and also had a coaching staff that went the extra mile with their players. His brother went on to play 4 seasons with the Concordia Stingers. He was also inspired by his father Pierre , who was at almost every one of his games and was always encouraging him along the way.

David’s biggest insperation however was his fellow teammate Anthony Gingras, who played Quarterback in Deschamps’ rookie season. The two teammates began to know each other very well and began being very close friends. Anthony passed away on the 28th of May, 2010. The event thought David and many of his fellow teammates, to never take anything for granted.

“He was a great friend and performed very well both on and off the field. He did everything with a smile on his face. He will always be one of my biggest insperations”.

Deschamps will be enrolling come september 2012 where he will study physical education.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
