Playing for many teams so far in his football career, Jeremy Haggarty has experienced success on many levels and with that success has come some impressive acclamations. He was named MVP in 2010 and has also been selected to represent his home province in the Football Canada Cup.
That same Team Ontario West team selection comes as one of the more prominent moments in Haggarty’s career. “My biggest football accomplishment was being selected to Team Ontario West this past summer. It was a great experience getting to play and spend a week with a team of guys that love football and are as dedicated to the game as I am.”
Haggarty has also been lucky enough to be called a champion when he took his school all the way to the finals. “My favourite moment was when my school won the city championships for the first time in 25 years. I scored two touchdowns in the game with a bad ankle. Everyone was so excited and being team captain and the first one to hoist the trophy was a moment I will always remember!”
Getting to the point he is at now could only be made possible with influential people and Haggarty has to look no further for his influence, then his own home. “My Dad has had the biggest influence on me and my football career. He got me started in to football when I was 9 and having coached at McMaster, he has a lot of football knowledge that he has started passing down to me. He coached me all through house league and even helped coach my high school team. He has pushed me to be the best that I can be and I would not be where I am today without him!”
As for what’s next for Haggarty, its up to the young running back. With impressive numbers and a solid football IQ, the possibilities are endless. “I am going to school for Commerce and I am looking at majoring in accounting or finance. I hope play football in the CIS. Where ever I go I know that it will be great experience. Playing in the CFL would be amazing if I got the opportunity but getting an education is the most important thing.”

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
