Team East and Team West players took to the field amidst an abundance of cheering from the many admirers at TD Waterhouse stadium in London, Ontario Saturday afternoon. The game began with Team West winning the coin toss, choosing to defer their choice and ending up kicking to the East.
The West got on the board first on a short field goal by kicker Lirim Hajrullahu (Western). Shortly after this first field goal, the west went ahead 6-0 on another Hajrullahu field goal. The second field goal occurred shortly after a West interception.
At the 7-minute mark of the first quarter Team East began to recover from the quick 6 point lead, when kicker Brett Lauther (St. Maryβs) made the score to 6-3 with a short field goal of his own. The game was tied up in the last seconds of the quarter by another Lauther field goal, making the score at 6-6 at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter saw the defensive struggle continue. Team East managed another field goal while Team West benefited from the East conceding a safety touch late in the half. The halftime score was 12 to 8 for the East.

Excitement exploded through the stadium as East player Zack Skibin (Acadia) scored a 58-yard touchdown. Following the extra point kick by Lauther, the East went up 19-8. This was followed shortly after by another 2 point safety and putting the East up 21 to 8.
Team West began to gain some momentum in the fourth quarter, driving the field on several occasions. Unfortunately they could only manage two field goals and several red-zone turnover on downs sealed the game for the East.
NOTES: Western was hosting the event for the fourth straight year. The contest was previously held at McMaster (2008), Laval (2007, 2006) and Wilfrid Laurier (2005, 2004, 2003). The East team was comprised of players representing schools from the Atlantic and Quebec conferences, as well as from Queen’s, Ottawa and Toronto, while the West squad was made up of players from Canada West and from the remaining OUA universities.
