For the past few seasons, Jacob has suited up for his high school team, the Fort Saskatchewan Sting. During his time there, the offensive lineman has been team offensive MVP (2010) and team offensive line MVP (2011).
Moreover, Jacob has been selected to the Alberta Bantam Bowl North team in 2009 and more recently to the Senior Bowl North Team in 2012. Both selections were offensive line positions.
The standout experienced the highlight of his career in 2011 when he represented his home province as a member of Team Alberta at the Football Canada Cup in Lethbridge. Team Alberta was subsequent silver medalists in the tournament.
As for the next chapter of his gridiron career, Jacob will not have to go far. Recently, he committed to the University of Alberta.
“University of Alberta is a good school and I’m excited to be a part of the Bears program and to contribute as much as I can,” adds the future Golden Bears player, who is enrolled in the Physical Education/BARST programme. “My older brother Nathan played for University of Alberta in 2010-2011.”
Ultimately, Jacob attributes all his success to his parents.
“My mom has never missed a practice or a game,” explains the offensive lineman of his greatest influences. “My dad has coached me throughout my career and is a huge reason for my development and success.”
When he does move onto the University of Alberta, Jacob will continue to succeed by the key things he’s learned on the field.
“Nothing of value comes free; in life or sport as long as you are committed, work hard and give effort, you will succeed,” says Jacob.
