OVFL: Pinto’s three touchdown day secures week 1 victory for Junior Wildcats

When coaches said they expected the young receiver to make a significant impact this season, even they couldn’t have predicted the influence Trivel Pinto would have in Saturday’s season opener versus Newmarket.

In his Wildcats debut, Pinto had three total touchdowns including a 90 yard return score to lead the Junior Varsity Metro Toronto Wildcats to a 32-27 win.

Quarterback Greg Dosset, who coaches have pegged as a breakout candidate for this year, showed glimpses of his immense potential as he tossed two touchdown passes and reached pay dirt on the ground from eight yards out.

One of the impact performances of the game was by Linebacker Deshawn Stevens who had several key tackles and two interceptions on the day, returning one for a 60 yard touchdown.

With many plays breaking into big gains through the air and many penalties called, both teams showed signs of early season growing pains.

Head Coach Ed Babin believes in his team’s chances for success. β€œMy bet is if we can fix these issues, we will be competitive throughout the season” Babin expressed.

With another week to prepare before visiting the Toronto Thunder, Babin and his coaching staff will have time to work out some of the kinks from week 1.

Perennial standouts from Ottawa Myers roll into town for the home opener on June 10[SUP]th[/SUP] for what will likely be the Wildcats’ toughest test of the young season.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
